Obituary of Shirley Harvey

Harvey, Helen "Shirley" passed away surrounded in love with her family by her side on January 15, 2017. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Harvey. Loving mother of David (Dorothy) of Findlay, Ohio, Denise (Damon Deacon) of Whitecourt, Alberta and Doug (Teresa) St. Catharines. Devoted "Grammie" to Paige and Zachary Deacon, Allie (Brent) and Sarah Harvey, Jordan and Lauren Stepien, and Cathy (Mike)Graham. Shirley was born in Bloomfield, Ontario on September 19, 1930 where her brother Robert (Helen), sisters Betty and Roberta still reside today. A long time resident of Beamsville, Shirley was an active life time member of Trinity United Church in Beamsville , UCW and IODE. Her love of roses lead Shirley to many hours of gardening, with prize winning roses in many competitions including the Hamilton Royal Botanical Gardens. She also enjoyed bowling with her husband, with decades of service to the Beamsville Lawn Bowling Club.Shirley's passion for hairdressing spanned over 50 years from salons to teaching to neighbourhood friends, always ensuring that everyone had the "perfect do"! Shirley loved her family which was the centre of her life. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband, friends, children and "Grammiekids". She cherished her times in arenas, ball diamonds, and dance studios. Her warm, caring, friendly spirit will be missed by the lives she has touched. The family will receive friends at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. Vineland, on Wednesday, January 18th from 7-8:30 pm. Shirley's Celebration of Life will take place in the chapel on Thursday, January 19 th at 12:00 noon. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room.
