Obituary of Walter Frank Klassen

Klassen, Walter Frank Walter passed away peacefully after a short illness, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in his 77th year. He has gone to be with the Lord, and to tell his beloved Cathy all about their grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Cathleen (née Baerg) in 2011, Walter was a loving father to Sharon (Bruce Pilcher) and Jane (Jason Turchin). His four grandchildren Emily, Liam, Adam and Miranda will miss his humour, kindness and the regular trips to the park. Son of Frank F. and Susan Klassen, he is survived by his sister Mary (Tom Boniferro) and predeceased by his brother John (Gladys). Walter attended Woodland School and Eden High School. He retired from GM (Plant 2) after more than 30 years of service. Walt was also a much-loved brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St. on Sunday 2-4 and 7-8:30 pm. The family will gather for interment prior to the Memorial Service to be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, corner of Parnell and Vine Streets in St. Catharines on Monday, March 27th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Calvary Christian School or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
