Obituary of Margaret Strong

Strong, Margaret Gwendeline (Read) – March 8, 1921 – May 14, 2017.  Wife of the late Norton (1987).  Dear mother of Elizabeth (Frank) Spoja, Robert (Maureen) Strong and Barbara (Rick) Kush.  Grandmother of Tracey (John) Fabbro, Richard (Sharon) Spoja, Walter (Marisa) Spoja, Robert (Mary St.James) Kush, Richard (Lori) Kush, Charlene Kush (Scott Beamish).  Also survived by 13 great grandchildren. 

Margaret will be lovingly missed be her sister Edith Holowchuk, St. Catharines, and brother Sidney Read, London.  Predeceased by her brother James Read and sister Isobel Legge.  Margaret married Norton Strong and lived in Beamsville for over 60 years before moving to Grimsby.  She was a Life member of the Women’s Institute, a life member of the Beamsville Lawn Bowling Club, a charter member of the Beamsville Senior’s Club.  Also involved with Brownies, Meals on Wheels and many other activities volunteering her time.  Margaret received the Order of Niagara for all the volunteer work at St. Alban’s Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lincoln Park, McNally House and Dr. DePetrillo for all the loving care provided.  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will take place at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 4341 Ontario St. Beamsville on Friday May 19 at 11:00a.m. with visitation one hour prior.  As per Margaret’s wishes, memorial donations may be made to St. Alban’s Church.
