Obituary of Ilean Wood

Mary Ilean Wood (Mills) travelled to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 30th, 2016. Ilean was the cherished wife of Douglas Charles Wood (deceased) and a devoted and passionate mother to her two sons Bradley Douglas Wood (Sherri) and Glen Stephen Wood. She was the loving grandmother of Britni Jean Chambers (Wood) (Joel), Brandon Douglas Wood, Bryson Ellis Wood and Alexander Glen Douglas Wood. Ilean was the only daughter of Vernal Kenneth Mills (deceased) and Mary Jane McLean (Mills) and the treasured big sister of Leslie Kenneth Mills (Penny) and John Paul Mills (Linda). She was a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews in both the Mills family and the Wood family. She was sister-in-law to Brenda Scott (Wood)(George), Bruce Wood (Brenda), Sheila Wood, Beverley Horne (Wood), Georgina Russell (Wood), Heather Flemming (Wood)(Brian), and Lynda Gowanlock (Wood) Jim (deceased). Ilean will be sincerely missed and fondly remembered by her faithful friend and companion Peter David Lees and his family - Lisa (Keith), Linda (Kevin), David (Lydia), and their children. Ilean was a dedicated educator for 37 years. Most of those were with the Lincoln County Board of Education. She spent the last 25 years of her career as a teacher at Gainsborough Elementary School. She worked diligently to help each of her students reach his or her potential. Ilean spent endless hours in extra-curricular activities especially coaching a variety of sports teams. Ilean was a long time member of Redeemer Bible Church and devoted her time and talents to many church related ministries including Pioneer Girls, Sunday School and youth work. Ilean lived her life according to her Christian faith and thanked God continually for the privilege of having her 2 sons to love and care for. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her boys. According to Ilean’s wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at St. Andrews - St. James Cemetery in Orillia, Ontario on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at 2pm where Ilean will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Doug. We welcome friends to join us at the Fireside Room of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St.,Vineland for a visit from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, December 5th, 2016. Memorial Donations in Ilean’s honour may be made to a charity of your choice.
