Obituary of Marge Birk

BIRK, Marge - Passed away peacefully in Brussels, Belgium on June 4, 2014, with her husband of 44 years at her side, after a long struggle with ovarian cancer. Born Margret Süske on January 29, 1950, in Bodenwerder, Germany, she emigrated in 1957 to Edmonton, Alberta then, after marriage in 1969, lived in Kingston, Sudbury, Hamilton, Calgary, Sydney (NS), Oakville and Vineland, gathering friends everywhere. She is survived by her husband, Dieter, three daughters Cassandra, Marcella and Heidi as well as her mother, Margarete in Heritage Village and her father Eberhard at the United Mennonite Home. We thank the oncologists, and nurses of the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, ON. and Universitair Ziekenhuis, Brussels for their care and compassion during her epic battle. The cancer did not defeat her beauty, grace and courage. She inspired Ovarian cancer patients, world-wide as the Warrior Queen. Cremation took place in Brussels, to be followed by private family arrangements in Vineland, Ontario.
