Obituary of Peter Paetkau

Paetkau, Peter - After a rich, full life, Peter Paetkau passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Orchard View apartments in Vineland.  He was born on September 9, 1927, in Nikolaipol, Ukraine, the youngest child of Heinrich and Elizabeth Paetkau.  His family is sustained by the assurance of his abiding faith in God, whom he served so devotedly.  Peter, with his young family, emigrated to Canada from Paraguay in 1959, and continued his active involvement in farming, raising his children, and serving others through participation in the Vineland United Mennonite Church.

He is survived by Anna, his wife of 68 years, and his four children and their families: Henry and his wife Leonora, their children Heidi & Jorge, Shari & Richard, Angela & Tyler, Becky & Greg; Kathy and her husband John, their children Julie, Deanna, Jonathan & Candace, and Jason; Peter and his wife Kathryn, their children Stephanie & Ben, Andrea & Greg, Matthew & Meaghan, David & Lindsay; and Mary Anne and her husband Tom, their children Peter & Kate, Conrad & Janine, Brigitte & Braden.  His loving attention and warm embraces are among the qualities that will also be missed greatly by his 17 (and counting) great-grandchildren.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Orchard View and the United Mennonite Home for the countless ways dad was supported and loved.

Friends are invited to share some memories during visitation at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland, on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 1:30-3:30 and 6:00-8:00pm.  A private family interment will take place, followed by a Celebration of Life service on Friday, September 7, 2018, at 1:30pm at the Vineland United Mennonite Church, 3327 Menno Street, Vineland.  A fellowship reception will follow.  Memorial donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (mcccanada.ca)
