Obituary of David Joseph Pree

PREE, Dr. David

On Friday October 12, David passed peacefully at McNally House hospice, leaving behind wife Donna, daughter, Carla (Jeremy), brother John (Diane), grandchildren Natalie and Caleb and his many cousins and nieces.  David and Donna celebrated their 50th (Golden) Wedding Anniversary in July.  David loved watching his grand kids succeed in both school and sport.  Hunting and fishing were his passion as well as spending time with his brother at the farm.  David’s career as a scientist took him around the world to places like the Ridgetown Agricultural College, Washington State University, Agriculture Canada Kentville Nova Scotia, Texas A&M University, and CSIRO Canberra Australia.  However, most of his career was spent in the Niagara area at Agriculture Canada Vineland working with fruit growers on pest management.  A big thanks to Dr. DePetrillo, the nursing students, the palliative care team, and McNally house staff and volunteers, as well as many others. 

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 16 at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm.  Funeral liturgy will be held at St. Stephen’s Church, 21 Ottawa Street South, Cayuga on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11am, followed by burial overlooking the family farm.  Donations can be made to David’s favourite charity Ducks Unlimited or McNally House Hospice, Grimsby.
