Obituary of Ernest Heinrich Wall

Wall, Ernest (Ernie) Heinrich

In the still, early hours of Friday, October 26, 2018, the Lord called home his faithful servant, Ernie Wall. Ernie was a loving, devoted husband, father and Opa, brother and uncle, who poured his energy and time into his family, never hesitating to help, whether it was to spend time with his grandchildren, or put on his work boots and help with his kids’ never-ending renos. Always ready with a smile and gentle good humour, Ernie was the master of corny jokes, and loved to laugh. Born in Vineland, ON on August 28, 1940, Ernie was the youngest of 6 siblings, and never hesitated to remind them that he was also the tallest. In his youth, Ernie loved to race cars, and while he gave that up, he never stopped loving cars or learning about them. Working in the accounting offices at GM for 42 years enabled Ernie to meet many different people, often getting to know them first by their employee ID number. He married the love of his life Diane in 1966, and together they raised two very clever sons, Kevin and Darren.  When he became an Opa, Ernie relished spending time with his two grandchildren, and would often shake his head at how fast they were growing up.  Ernie loved the Lord, and was dedicated to building and continuing His church.  He and Diane were charter members of Fairview Louth MB Church, and when the transition to Southridge Community Church occurred, he was there, helping in any way he could. Ernie loved people and numbers, and dedicated his time to counting the weekly church offering, and shaking as many hands as he could. Ernie will be sorely missed by his loving wife Diane, his children Kevin (Audrey), and Darren, his grandchildren Olivia (Milan) and Sam (Hannah), his brother Gerry Wall and sister Martha Wall, his brother-and sister-in-law Don and Kathy Friend, his cousins in Germany, his nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. He joins in heaven his parents Aron and Maria Wall, his brother and sister-in-law John and Frieda Wall, his sisters and brothers-in law Katie and Henry Siemens, Chuck and Lillian Booth, and his sister-in-law Martha Wall. The end of his race may have come much sooner than anyone expected, but he ran it faithfully. There’s no doubt he was greeted in Heaven with the words, “Welcome home, my good and faithful servant.” He will be missed.

The family will receive friends at Southridge Community Church, St. Catharines location, 201 Glenridge Ave., on Tuesday October 30, 2018 from 2-4 and 6:30-8:30pm. Interment will take place in Vineland Cemetery prior to the memorial service which will take place at the church on Wednesday October 31 at 11am.
