Tom Towers

Obituary of Tom Towers

Towers, Tom - On Friday, Nov 22nd, 2019, Tom eased gently to the next chapter after making his 8.5-year battle with cancer look easy.

For Tom, nothing could top video calls, pictures and visits with his grandchildren, Nikolas, Archer and Luna.  They always brought a smile to his face no matter how he was feeling.

Tom brought energy, passion and intensity to all he did, whether it was with family or friends, at work or at play.   He believed in family first.  His children and their partners, Jeff and Tia, Matt and Sarah and Kate and Phil, will miss him dearly.  His best friend and partner for 42 years, Christy, will always cherish their years and many adventures together.  Tom is survived by his parents, John and Jean Towers, and all of his 7 brothers and sisters and many dear nieces and nephews.

As an insurance broker specializing in commercial insurance, Tom took a true interest in his clients and many became good friends as they valued his integrity, knowledge and work ethic.  Tom will also be remembered for coaching Grimsby minor hockey, serving on the WLMH Foundation board and many other contributions to his community.  He was a passionate and lifelong golfer and more recently a curling addict.  Tom loved the outdoors and cherished time in the near north at the cottage.

Our family welcomes extended family, friends and colleagues to join us for a memorial service at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street in Vineland on Sunday, December 8th at 1 pm, and/or a reception in the Fireside Room at Tallman from 2 - 4 pm.   In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Foundation in memory of Tom would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Any donations made in Tom’s memory will be directed specifically to the newly-established Urological Oncology Research Centre, UCCRI.  Tom’s estate will match 1:1 the total donations made.
