Obituary of Elizabeth Warkentin

Warkentin, Elizabeth (Betty) - Passed away peacefully on November 26, 2019 at the age of 89.  Beloved wife of Abe Warkentin (deceased 2014) for 63 years.  Dear mother of Marlene (Douglas) Caldwell, Shirley (Dennis) Dick, Janet Elliott Warkentin, and Henry (Rhonda) Warkentin.  Loving Oma to Doug and Joe (Veanna) Caldwell, Jake (Angelica) Dick and Denise (Colin) Horne,  Rachel (deceased 2003), Ashley and Justus Elliott, and Weston Warkentin and 1 great grandchild Emberley Horne.

Betty will be missed by sisters Alice Kopp Thomson and Irene Seager and brother Victor (Sandra) Lepp, and sisters in law Frieda Lepp, Marg Lepp, Margaret (Ray) Robert and Katie (Emil) Hoas. 

Predeceased by brothers Henry (Jeanette), Abe (Betty) , Paul , Otto and Peter Lepp and brothers in law Henry (Mary) Warkentin , Otto Warkentin, Henry Kopp and Val Seager.

Betty was a devoted homemaker and an excellent seamstress and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends.  Her Napoleon Torte’s were legend !  Betty had a kind heart and was always ready with a smile for everyone who came to see her.  She had a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh !

The family wishes to thank the amazing PSWs and nursing staff at Pleasant Manor and Heritage Place (Radiant Care), for the loving care they have provided for Betty over the past number of years.

Visitation will be held at Bethany Mennonite Church, 572 East and West Line in Virgil on Sunday, December 1, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.  The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 3 at 11:00 a.m, at the same location, followed immediately by a reception in the auditorium. 

Donations in memory of Betty may be made to Radiant Care or Mennonite Central Committee.
