Marvin Charles Clark, September 9, 1940 – October 29, 2020. Marvin most recently of Vineland, Ontario, passed away in hospital surrounded by his loving family. Marvin was born in Toronto, Ontario to Marvin and Alice (nee Ireland) Clark. Marvin’s childhood years were spent in Keswick, Ontario. He and his loving wife of 55 years, Lana (nee McGurk) began their life together in Hamilton, moved to Burlington, later Freelton and most recently Vineland. Marvin worked in sales from a young age; he began his career managing a camera store, which resulted in a lifelong hobby. In the mid 70’s he was involved in the dawning of the at-home electronics era, always open to trying out new technologies. His family enjoyed being the first on the block to try out Atari, Bally and Intellivision products just to name a few, as well as a number of prototypes that although unique, may have been ahead of their time. In the early 80’s he switched his focus to the Insurance Industry and prior to his retirement he owned Kingsway Insurance an insurance/investment brokerage in Hamilton. In addition to photography, Marvin had many interests including listening to and playing classical piano, he was an avid fisherman and camper, loved spending time in a boat, a train or on a plane. He was a talented do-it-yourselfer and even designed and coordinated the construction of our family home in North Burlington. As an adventurer, he enjoyed travel, whether for personal or business, he always made the most that every destination had to offer. Friendships and Family bonds were very important to Marvin. Although not thrilled as an 8-year-old to be told he was losing his only child status, he cherished his little brother Brian. They shared many happy days growing up in the Keswick area, he was very proud of Brian’s personal and business achievements. Marvin’s personality allowed him to make friends wherever he travelled but he treasured a number of long-time friendships. A proud Father he could be found applauding and cheering any achievement or celebration involving his daughters Deborah and Heather. In the 70’s when Heather took an interest in playing soccer, her team needed a coach, Marvin stepped in and not only filled the role, but made it a passion of his own becoming involved in the Executive Team for the Burlington Youth Soccer Club. When Deborah’s career path took her in the direction of Sales, he was not only supportive, but a great reference source. At one point, they even worked together in the Insurance Industry. As Deborah along with Dan, and Heather moved into homes of their own, his supporting nature made him the on-call Handy-man or the How-To Helpline. Marvin was overjoyed to become a Papa, with the birth of Abigail Hannah. Following in his footsteps, Abigail has both a love of music and is fast becoming a do-it-yourselfer in her own right, constantly creating. Marvin was especially proud of her as she entered a specialized high school program that is focused in the sciences. Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Lana, they supported each other through thick and thin. He was a dear Father of Deborah (Dan Rust) and Heather. Cherished Papa to Abigail, Big Brother to Brian (Faye) Clark, Brother In-Law to Ann and Bill Alcock, Uncle to Kevin (Bonnie), Karen, Kimberly, Kathryn (Winston), Amanda and Rebecca. He will always be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Donations in Marvin’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or a charity of your choosing. We would be grateful if friends and family could share their messages, memories and even your favourite photo on the tribute wall. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
