Obituary of Malieta Amelia Goertzen

Goertzen, Malieta Amelia - Passed away peacefully at Tabor Manor on Monday January 4 2021at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Frank Goertzen (1996) and cherished mother of Ralph Goertzen St Catharines and Eleanor (Harvey) Oatway Grand Prairie Alberta and Linda Goertzen predeceased 1973.Grandchildren include Darlene, Valerie, Angela, Becky, Scott and Jason as well as many great grandchildren. Malieta was 1 of 8 children born to John and Anne Wall including Frank, Johnny (d.), Jake (d.), Anna, Louise, Alice (d.), and Elfie (d.).  Malieta will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends. She was born Feb 28th 1927 in Manitoba. We often teased her celebrity status as she was named after the name of the ship her parents came to Canada in from Russia! Despite only a few years of public school her passion was farming and gardening though much of her time went to caregiving. Linda took 10 years of constant cystic fibrosis care and then her husband suffered a severe stroke at 45 and for 27 years she attended to his special needs. This was followed by giving special care for her parents in their last years at Tabor as they lived into their nineties. We know she will have heard the welcome “well done thou good and faithful servant! “She never complained about work and giving was her gift …. her grandchildren will remember those birthday gifts and her famous chocolate pie ! She loved to sing and we know she will be singing Amazing Grace with those she longed to see in heaven.

A special thanks to the wonderful people at Tabor who have shown so much love, especially during these difficult times.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private graveside service will be held.

If desired, memorial donations to Radiant Care Tabor Manor would be appreciated.
