Robert Hesp

Obituary of Robert Norman Hesp

Hesp, Robert - It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Hesp on January 19, 2021 to be with his Lord and Saviour at age 58. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Durksen), married 30 years this July. Loving father of Natasha (Joshua) Mason, Trevor, Lauren (fiance Mark) and Elyse Hesp. Cherished son of Irene Hesp. Dear brother of Judi Hesp and Karlene (Cliff) Fletcher. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Harold Hesp.

Rob was born in St. Catharines and raised in Erin and Orangeville. He formed many deep, long-lasting friendships from his life there. He was a proud graduate of Wheaton College (1981-85). After college, Rob led troops as an officer in the Royal Canadian Regiment. He loved his country. The love of his life was Sandy Hesp (Durksen), who, he described as, “the nicest person on the planet.” Together, they raised four amazing children.

Rob worked as a Family Wealth Manager with his trusted associates, Li and Jessica. He loved his work and the relationships he formed while serving his clients. Rob always had an adventurous spirit. He loved to travel, sail and go on motorcycle trips with his close friends.

His greatest passion was skiing; he taught his family to ski and spent every winter on the slopes.

His youthful zest for life will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held at Tallman Funeral Home on January 23, 2021 following interment at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. There will be a livestream of the memorial service at 2 pm.

The family invites you to share your memories and photos of Rob on this page and by e-mail at shesp@sympatico.ca. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Camp Crossroads (https://campcrossroads.com/give/) or Compassion Canada (https://www.compassion.ca/make-a-donation/) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
