Mary Dyck

Obituary of Mary Louise Dyck

MARY LOUISE DYCK (1930 – 2021)

It is with a mixture of sorrow and joy that we share the passing of our Mom, Mary Louise Dyck, on January 23, 2021. While we will miss her greatly, we know that her physical pain is now over, that she is now in heaven, and that we will see her again.

Mary Louise Dyck (born Marie Neufeld) was born in Elmira, Ontario on August 30, 1930 to Gerhard F. and Helena Neufeld. She was the 3rd of 4 children, with an older brother (Harry), an older sister (Helga), and a younger sister (Susan). Mom’s family moved to a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake when she was very young, and this is where she lived until she married Rudolph Dyck on June 6, 1953.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Gerhard and Helena Neufeld, her brother Harry, her sister Helga, her husband Rudolph, and their first child, Paul (1954).

Mom leaves behind to mourn and to cherish her memory her children: Byron (Netty), David (Ruth), Jonathan (Eleanor), Jocelyn (John Thwaites) and Paulette, and many grandchildren, their spouses, and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren: Andrew (Alicia), Graham (Emma), Nelson (Jennifer), Corbin (Ashley), Avery (Zach), Danielle (Eric), Jared (Alex), Kaleigh, Nathan (Melissa), Heidi, Charlotte, Roberta (Matt), Andrea, Stephen and Heather. Great-Grandchildren: Keenan, Quinn, Kayla, Brooklyn, Luke, Isabella, Lincoln, Jaxon, Hudson, Llewyn, Junia, Summer, Cooper, Leeland, Ella and Alice. Mom also leaves to mourn her a sister, Susan (Abe) Epp, a sister-in-law, Helen Neufeld, and a brother-in-law, Henry Lehn.

As a family, we wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Matt Greenway, as well as our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the many staff at Radiant Care Tabor Manor who took care of Mom in such a loving and caring manner throughout the time she was with them, and especially so in her last weeks and days. This would include not only Comfort, Jayna, Jardin, Tatiana, Melissa, Ellen, Binu and Jenna, but also all those faithful faces we saw regularly, whose names we did not know.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom’s honour to Radiant Care Tabor Manor.
