Reginald Osborne

Obituary of Reginald Ernest Osborne

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Reg Osborne, at the Hamilton General Hospital on May 1, 2021, at the age of 78. Loving husband and best friend of Elizabeth “Betty”. Precious Papa (stepdad) to “the girls”, Darlene (Mike), Valerie (Byron), and Angela (Jon), and all their children Carmen (Jen), Frank, Ada, Grace, Emma, Adam, Megan, Evan, and Ollie, who will all miss him dearly.

He will also be missed by his many brothers, sisters and friends.

Reg will be remembered as an energetic, hard worker who was always helping others. He served his community as a local firefighter. His true passion was devoting endless hours to helping his family and he was there for them no matter what they needed. He was beyond generous with his time and money, happily doing odd jobs or yard work for his family, cheering them on at sporting events, recitals, and graduations. He would always show up with drinks and snacks for everyone! Reg was the kind of Papa who visited his grandson almost every day for months in the hospital after a car accident. There was nothing Papa wouldn’t do for his family. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids!

Reg also knew how to have fun and make people laugh - especially with his hilarious sayings and storytelling. He was a talented guitar player and singer, and could often be heard whistling a tune. He enjoyed playing games with his family and was a great euchre partner. He loved working on his model trains, and being outside (working, fishing, relaxing, sitting by the fire). The joy of his life was his wife, Betty. Whether it was sitting in the sunroom chatting, taking a leisurely drive together, working side by side, dancing to country music, or just having tea, they were a pair - stronger together because of the road they journeyed and because of the love they shared. He loved his family, serving at his church, and he loved the Lord.

Reg has left a legacy as a family man full of integrity and we will forever be grateful for the memories.

Papa Reg will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. As a family, we want to thank our amazing neighbours for their courageous efforts to help Reg. We would also like to thank the Vineland firefighters, EMS emergency personnel at Greater Niagara Hospital in St. Catharines, the ICU and CCU doctors and nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital for their heroic efforts and compassion.

Thank you for everything, Papa. We love you!
