Obituary of Cindy Yung Yi Frazer

On Sunday, May 30, 2021, after a fearless seven month battle with stage four endometrial cancer, Yung Yi Cindy Frazer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. With incredible grace and poise she approached this journey with the utmost strength and courage.

At nine years old, Yung Yi immigrated to Canada with her family from Daegu, South Korea. Industrious and determined in her pursuit of excellence, she made many meaningful contributions in her professional career (Canada Revenue Agency, Sanofi-Aventis, and CSL Behring) and volunteer activities (Board of Directors with the Toronto Children’s Chorus).

Loved by innumerable family, friends and colleagues, she is predeceased by her father, Chang Ho Choe, and survived by her mother, Do Yun Choe, her husband Tim, and children Clarence (Christina), Andrew (Jane), and Leah (Ken), as well as her sisters Suk-Hi (Jerry) and Sunny. Yung Yi was a loving Harmonie to Myla and Auntie to Scott, Brian, Samantha, Victoria, and Matt. Beloved daughter in-law to Lloyd and Yvonne, and sister in-law to Karen and Leigh.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service at Metropolitan United Church in Toronto followed by a celebration of Yung Yi’s life will occur at a later date when all those wishing to join can attend.

The family would also like to thank the Oncology Team from the Juravinski Cancer Centre led by Dr. Lua Eiriksson and Dr. Kara Schnarr; the community home care team from St. Elizabeth Health, particularly nurses Melanie and Vanessa; and Dr. Susan Waserman and Dr. Jane Charters.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Yung Yi’s memory can be made to any of the following: Toronto Children’s Chorus (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/t/38980), Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation, or the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation.
