Obituary of Lukas Andrew Smith

Smith, Lukas - It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, son, and friend, Lukas Smith.

Lukas is survived by his beloved wife, soulmate and love of his life; Trish and precious children Bryden, Riley and Miaya. His parents Andrew Smith and Rosemary Beech, his siblings Amanda Smith, Melissa Smith and his niece and nephew, Noah and Abby.  His parents-in-law Peter and Arlene Thiessen, his sister-in-law Karen Thiessen, his brother-in-law Gerald (predeceased) and his loyal furry companion Emmerson.

Lukas was born in Vineland on June 12, 1980.  His adventurous spirit and passion for life was evident even as a child.  He lived each day to the fullest... whether it was dirt biking, sailing, building houses, coffee with friends, playing with his kids or loving his wife.

Lukas recently reflected;  “There are a few things that I am certain about.  I love relationships.  I love to get to know people and see what makes them tick.  I love it when people drop by the house unannounced.”  You see, Lukas had this great gift… of accepting people, of listening to people, of not judging people, of truly and deeply caring for people.  Many people would confide in him, including people he had barely met.

Faith was central to Lukas' life.  Lukas longed for people to know Jesus and experience the same freedom and hope for this life and the life beyond that he himself had.  Lukas worked hard so he could live life to the full.  He soaked it up, squeezed it, and wrung it out only to do it all over again.  He had so many dreams he still wanted to fulfill but the God he trusted had other plans.  Lukas will be so deeply missed...cherished husband, adored father and son, friend and mentor to so many.  We love you Lukas.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the first responders, hospital staff at St. Catharines Hospital, Cornerstone Church family and the surrounding community for their love and care during this time.
