Obituary of Kenneth Lionel Cattermole

Ken was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, the youngest of 3 sons of Daisy and Charles Cattermole who emigrated from England after the 2nd world war. With 2 older brothers serving in the war Ken grew up with a keen interest in the history of that time, but also being home without his brothers, he developed a love for cooking as well. This is a passion that so many of us came toappreciate and looked forward to not just on special occasions but any time, for no particular reason except that good food always seemed to come with good fun and lots of laughter.School wasn’t his favourite occupation, sports of all kinds were far more his style and he excelled at several.Coaching was a natural followup. One of his older hockey teams were made up in part of juvenile boys on parole. He was disciplined and devoted to others that he thought he could help in life. Going to bat for the underdog was an important part of him and appreciated in several situations along the way to running his own specialty advertising business.

His 2 daughters Debbie and Rene from his childhood sweetheart marriage eventually got to know him when they were in their 30s. They and their families have enjoyed a special relationship with him for many years since. He met and married Catherine in 1975 and adopted Philip to complete his new family. His love of warm weather was shared by the whole family, including Philip (Helen) and grandchildren Mikayla and Abigail in unforgettable family vacations in Curacao particularly. At home and here in Niagara after his retirement, singing became a joy and a job that he loved. He was part of several Church and community choirs including Chapel Singers and the Niagara Community Mens Choir. Hetreasured his time with all the people and ministry of these organizations. He is missed greatly by all for his generosity humor and hard work that he applied to everything he was involved in.
