Obituary of Petronella Katharina Vandermolen

Petronella (Nellie) Katharina VanderMolen passed peacefully into her loving Saviour’s arms on the sixth of August, 2021 with her family by her side.   Born in the Netherlands in 1948, Nellie came to Canada at the age of 3. She is predeceased by her mother, Aukina (nee Daniels) Ketelaar (1912-1967) and father Geert Johan Christoff (John) Ketelaar (1914-1997).

Trinity United Reformed Church was a big part of her life and is where she met and married her husband Berend (Ben) VanderMolen.  Nellie will be greatly missed by her husband and six children, Dan (Becky), Julie (Roger), Sarah (Steve), Joe, Melissa (Ryan), and Nicole and her seventeen cherished grandchildren Jordan, Jesse, Zachary, Abby, Brianna, Angelina, Jonah, Micah, Roger, Lucas, Austin, Max, Bella, Jayden, Charlie, Myah, and Azalea. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Jackie, Katie and Chris and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Nellie was a cheerful giver and had a servant’s heart.  She loved to volunteer and will be fondly remembered by her colleagues and friends at Shalom Manor, Bloomingdeals Thrift Store, Niagara Christian Gleaners, and the Vineland Mennonite home.

The family would like to express their special gratitude towards Dr. Christopher Lynett for his exceptional care and support.

Visiting hours will be held at Trinity United Reformed Church on 99 Scott Street in St. Catharines, Monday, August 9th from 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm.  A private interment for the immediate family will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Jordan.  All are welcome to attend the memorial service on August the 10th at 11:00 am at Trinity United Reformed Church with Covid screening and protocols, masks and physical distancing. Flowers can be sent directly to Trinity URC.
If desired, memorial donations to Heritage Christian School or Shalom Manor would be appreciated.
