Obituary of Janet Vandermolen
1939 – 2021
Janet Vandermolen passed away peacefully into her loving Saviour’s arms on August 27, 2021 with her family by her side.

Janet will be greatly missed by her loving husband Dave of almost 61 years; her six children, Arlene (Phil) Hielema, Renee (John) Bakker, Larry (Alida) Vandermolen, Andrew (Tracy) Vandermolen, Anthony (Rachel) Vandermolen, Ken (Charlene) Vandermolen; her 21 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren, with 1 more due in December 2021.

She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Shirley Riewald, Peter Nauta (predeceased), Leo Nauta, Sam Nauta, Anne DeVries, Dorothy Campbell and Betty Galenkamp, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was born in the Netherlands in Beetgumermolen, Friesland on October 23, 1939.  She is predeceased by her father, Andrew Nauta (1911 to 1997) and her mother Alice, nee Hoogsteen  (1910 to 2008).  She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1950 at the age of 11.

Janet met Dave Vandermolen on the Martin Farms in Vineland, ON and they were married on September 16, 1960 in St. Catharines, ON.  She was a busy homemaker and helped support the family by working part-time tying grapes for local farmers and later worked in greenhouses.

She is known by many for her infectious smile and happy demeanor.  She loved to laugh and have a great time.  She found much joy in spending time with her family and was generous with her love, encouragement and support for them.

Janet loved to knit and crochet.  Her hands were always busy creating afghans, blankets, doilies and knitted wool socks for all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the Heritage Christian School bazaar.

She was a long-time faithful member of Trinity United Reformed Church and proud supporter of Christian education.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude toward Paul & Tracy from St. Elizabeth Homecare, Dr. Geisbrecht and Dr. Lepp for their exceptional care and support.

Visiting hours will be held at Trinity United Reformed Church, 99 Scott Street, St. Catharines, on Monday, August 30 from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm.  A private interment for the immediate family will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill.  All are welcome to attend the memorial service on Tuesday, August 31 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Reformed Church.  Flowers can be sent directly to Trinity URC.

If desired, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Christian School, Cairn Christian School or your local Community Care.
