Obituary of Margaret Berg

Margaret Berg (Klassen) passed peacefully into the presence of God at Tabor Manor on August 30, 2021, Born June 26, 1925 in Landskrone, Ukraine, to parents Johann and Katharina (Regehr) Klassen, the second youngest of 10 children.  She immigrated to Canada in 1948, the only one of her family to escape the communist rule of the time.

She married Albert Berg in 1950 and enjoyed being a stay at home mom to their 4 children and later to their grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and cooking, hosting family and friends and helping those in need.  She participated in many church activities, serving at luncheons and dinners, sewing quilts, and singing in the Ladies choir. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert, in 2006.  Dearly loved mother of Irene (Vic) Thiessen, Peter (Debra) Berg, Elizabeth (Henry) Janzen and Susan (Doug) Windeatt.  Loving Oma to David (Minjung), Brian (Leticia), Tina (Jamie), Cherisse (Dan), Lindsay (Marc), Adrienne (Steve), Sarah, Chris (Julia), Emily (Dave), Darren (Kristy) and Jill (Andrew).  Cherished Great Oma to 25 great grandchildren.  Margaret will be missed by Eric and Marlies Berg, Lora Berg and Fred and Selma Berg as well as by many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents and siblings in Russia and Germany and Albert's siblings Constantine (Jessie), Herbert (Marga), Hugo, Anna Klassen (Henry) and Mary Penner (Cornelius).


Many thanks to the excellent staff at Radiant Care Tabor Manor for their compassionate care of mom for the past 9 years.


Following Covid protocols, the family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2nd 1:00 pm at the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church, 335 Linwell Road.  Service will follow at 2:00 pm with a private family interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.


If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or Radiant Care - Tabor Manor.
