Obituary of Wayford Smith

Smith, Wayford - After a short illness, early in the morning of Friday, December 24, 2021, Lindelle Wayford Smith, claimed his heavenly reward and joined his loving Saviour.    Surrounded by family who loved him dearly, he was sung into heaven.   He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 69 years, Wilma (Atchley) and his children Linda, Lita (Neal) Blevins, Sandra (Roger) Lansdell and Marcia Cramp who was like a daughter to him.  He is lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren Jeremy (Trista), Jeff, Kyle (Anna) and Jessica (Carl) and eight great grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren, Bayleigh, Madison, Shiloh, Peyton, Brinley and Cole.

Wayford is predeceased by his parents, Lawson and Blanche, and one brother, Rodney.  Missing their brother are Sybil (Rick) Kinonen, Melvin (Kay), and sister-in-law, Ladine and their families.  He leaves behind sister-in-law, Donnaleta and Sue (James) and many other relatives and friends.

 

Wayford was a devoted Christian servant and served as a minister for the Churches of Christ in St. Thomas, Ontario, Shamrock, Texas, Meaford and Collingwood, Ontario and served as an elder for the Tintern Church of Christ in his retirement years.

 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. David Habing, the doctors and nurses at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and the St. Elizabeth staff.  Special thanks to the staff at The Jacob for their loving care and support.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Great Lakes Christian College in Beamsville.

A funeral service will be held at the Tintern Church of Christ, 4359 Springcreek Rd, Vineland on Thursday, December 30 at 11:00 am.  Viewing will take place at Tintern church building from 10:00 – 11:00, but out of abundant caution, due to Covid, the family will not have a receiving line.   Interment will take place at Lane Cemetery following the service.  Persons wanting to attend the service must CLICK HERE to sign up. Those attending must be fully vaccinated, wear masks and be socially distanced.
