Obituary of James Mark Froese

James “Mark” Froese

11 March 1960 - 28 March 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Mark” Froese on Monday 28 March 2022 at the St. Catharines General Hospital.

Mark was born on a snow storming day, 11 March 1960. He was the first son of Jake and Erna Froese followed by his brothers Gerry and Gordon.  He was a studious child who also loved outdoors adventures with his family.  Mark attended CMBC in Winnipeg and the University of Waterloo for history and languages and even studied a year in Germany.

Mark was an avid reader and was the master of much knowledge which he shared in depth with all who knew him. He loved ice fishing… a lot.

In 2003 he was diagnosed with kidney disease and he gratefully received a transplant kidney from his brother Gerry the next year. Sadly, in the following years, many other health issues accumulated to make life challenging for Mark.

He was the Beloved Son of Jake (2017) and Erna Froese. Loved Nephew of (TM) Margaret Heinrichs. Dear Brother of Gerry (2021) & Donna Froese and Gordon Froese. Adored Uncle to Jasmine and Alexi Froese. Missed by Manitoba cousins Dennis & Cheryl Janzen and Angie & Dave Dick and their families, the Nowak clan of Waterloo, family friend Irmgard Penner and many other friends and family.

Visitation will be held at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Home (3277 King St., Vineland) on Monday 04 April from    2-4 followed by an informal memorial service in the gathering room. Cremation has taken place.

Donations , if desired, to the Friends of Mennonite Centre Ukraine would be appreciated

Mark, we will miss your humour, your grumpiness, your vast knowledge and your love.
