Obituary of Egon Kurt Scheitor

Egon Kurt Scheitor

It is with profound sadness and with grateful blessings that Egon passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in his 92nd year, after a short battle with Covid-19. Beloved husband of the late Rita Scheitor. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters: Marion (Fred), Doris (Ossie), Andrea and Carola (John). He was the proud Opa of: Marleen (Gab), Michelle (James); Christina (Jared), Alex (Charlotte), Eric (Janet); Rebecca, James; Matthew (Lauren), and Mitchell (Shannel). He was also the loving Opa to nine great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with seven predeceased sisters and brothers in Germany. Born in Lodz, Poland, and growing up in wartime Germany, Egon immigrated to Canada with the love of his life, Rita in 1954. They settled in St. Catharines in 1959 and Egon started Ontario Street Service Centre, which he operated for 50 years. They joined Immanuel Baptist Church where Rita used her talent in music and he was very active in various positions over the years until his passing. His love for the Lord had no limit, and he rarely missed a service or a deed for the Lord. His priorities in life were God, his love of his wife, and his daughters and their families. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Immanuel Baptist Church on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  This will be a masked event and physical distancing will be important to the family. Following the service, interment will be for family only. Due to Covid concerns, no reception will be available. A special thanks from the family to the wonderful staff on the 4A Ward at the St. Catharines General Hospital. If desired, in lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
