Annemarie (Hirsch) Gesch

January 30th 1935 - June 15th 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Annemarie Gesch announce her passing on Wednesday, June 15th 2022 in her 88th year surrounded by her family.

She was set free from pain and is now in the loving arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ, for which we are so grateful.

 

Annemarie  was the oldest of five children born to Arthur and Elfriede Hirsch on January 30th 1935, Koenigsberg, Germany. In 1948, the family relocated to Bochum Germany.  Mom committed her life to the Lord at the age of fourteen, and was baptized May 8th 1949 in the Baptist church in Bochum.  She loved music and faithfully served in her church by singing in the choir, playing guitar and her keyboard. 

 

In Bochum, she trained to become a book binder in a book printing shop where she worked for nine years.  She met the handsome Erwin Gesch at an evangelistic church meeting in 1958.  Annemarie made the life changing decision to immigrate to Canada with her family on May 1st 1959.  They settled in St Catharines.  Erwin was determined to pursue her and accompanied her across the ocean in hopes of winning her love.  Erwin quickly won her heart and they were engaged on August 20th 1959.  The wedding took place on November 21st 1959.  They were happily married for 62 years. 

 

Erwin and Annemarie were blessed with their first child Regina, February 6th 1961, followed by Evelyn, June 8th 1962, Andreas, November 8th 1963, Edwin, June 4th 1967, and last but not least Rosemarie, January 24th 1970. 

 

Annemarie was very proud of her 5 children and all their accomplishments. She always had a warm meal and a clean home.  She loved nature, going camping with family, hiking, sitting on the great rocks on Georgian Bay and travelling with Erwin in her later years.  Bethel Park was a favourite place the she enjoyed each summer.  Annemarie especially cherished, family times with siblings, children, grandchildren and most recently her great grandchildren.  Annemarie is survived by her loving husband Erwin and her children, Regina (Arnold) Look, Evelyn (Ernie) Spadzinski, Jackie Gesch, Edwin (Darlene) Gesch, Rosemarie (Jim) Wright.  Grandchildren: Nathan (Nikki) Look, Tiffany (Tim) Plett, Aaron Look, Andrew (Keena) Spadzinski, Marcus (Alesha) Spadzinski, Timothy Spadzinski, Christena Spadzinski, Bradley Gesch, Jayden (Rose) Gesch, Lindsey Gesch, Catharine Wright, Laurel Wright, Suzannah Wright

9 great grandchildren: Cody, Brayden, Christian, Riley, Mia, Zara, Zoe, Magnolia, and Edward.

She was predeceased by her son Andreas, (Sept 2014) and her sweet baby granddaughter Grace-Anne Wright (Sept 1996).   In addition she is survived by her siblings, Ursula Schwarz, Christel Maier, Reinhard (Heidi) Hirsch, Ruth (Ernst) Alge as well as many nieces and nephews.  

 

Family will receive friends at Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St., Vineland) on Friday June 17th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday June 18th from 2 to 4 pm.  Memorial service will be held at Full Gospel church, 376 Carlton Church on Monday June 20th at 11:00am.  

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to PAOC Missions, with cheques made payable to “Full Gospel Church” with designations to PAOC Missions for the donation.
