Obituary of Bernard Stuart Wilson

B. Stuart Wilson

1928-2022

After a long productive life, Bernard Stuart “Stu” Wilson, 93, of St. Catharines passed away on September 29, 2022 with family members by his side. Born in Simcoe, Ontario, to Bernard and Ethel (Fulton) Wilson, he spent his early years on the family farm before relocating and attending St. Catharines Collegiate High School. Stuart graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1954 and practiced veterinary medicine at Wilson’s Animal Hospital for 47 years, retiring in 2001. He was a devoted family man, enthusiastic sports fan and a legendary Mr. Fix-it.

Stuart married Helen Duffield of Guelph in 1957 and they enjoyed a wonderful life together for 52 years until her passing in 2010. He will be deeply missed by his children: Linda (Rob) Rooke, Larry (Melanie) Wilson, David (Paula) Wilson and Lori (Tony) Nufrio. Fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and spouses: Dave (Carolyn), Brian (Paige), Jeff (Emily), Christen (Brook), Mike (Erica), Katie, Brynna, Emma, Brett, Michelle and Marc (Kristyn), with three grandsons bearing Stuart as their middle name in honor of Grandpa Stu. We will continue to share stories of his strong character, resourcefulness, perseverance, quick wit, kindness and compassion with his 11 great-grandchildren. Stuart was predeceased by his sister Anna (Ron) Thwaites and brother Jim (Ruth) Wilson as well as his dear companion of later years, Doris Chown.
