Obituary of Wyndham Nicholas Deere

It is with great sadness that the family of Wyndham Nicholas Deere, well known as Windy and Grindad announce his passing on 23rd October 2022.

He was the husband of the late Audrey Deere (Kemp) who passed in 2004 and father to 3 children.   He leaves behind his loving companion Sheila Drake from the UK and his children, Michael of Belleville, ON, Christopher of Charlottetown, PEI, and David of Bragg Creek, AB.  He was a very proud grandfather of 6 grandkids Meghan, Brendan, Marina, Madeline, Banon and Gavin.  He is also survived his precious great-grandchild, Rosa.

Wyndham had a remarkable 22-year career in the Royal Air Force beginning as an apprentice mechanic in RAF Station Halton and becoming a commissioned officer and flight navigator on the Britannia.  In 1968, Wyndham and family emigrated to Canada where he enjoyed another 22 years as a pilot with Air Canada.  Wyndham retired in 1990 and spent the next 32 years enjoying many adventures including traveling around the world, writing, painting, listening to classic music, cross-country cycling, walking, and playing golf.

He always enjoyed being on the move and loved sharing stories.  He will be missed terribly by those who had the pleasure of knowing Wyndham.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:30 am at the Tallman Funeral Home (3277 King Street, Vineland, ON L0R 2C0).

A private service will be held after the service where Wyndham’s ashes will be laid to rest next to his wife Audrey in the Vineland Cemetery.
