Having grown up in Beamsville, there was never a time I didn't know of the Flemings, but I didn't meet Val in person until I was in my 20s. Val was very cordial on the several occasions we met over the years. Within the past 5 years or so, Val employed my services as a hairstylist. It was at First Choice (Beamsville) that I had more opportunity to know her.
Her sense of humour was fanstastic, and the first time I washed her hair, in a very stern tone she said, "I'll give you half an hour to stop that!" [referring to my shampooing] - then chuckled and said, "I love a good scrub"!
I miss seeing her smile!

Our memories of growing up in the town of Beamsville and in the Church of Christ will always be connected to Val, Art and the Fleming family. From remembering those early days going on family picnics after church; to Friday night young peoples meetings in the "family room"; to going to swimming lessons at Kinsmen park in Val's blue Cadillac convertible (with the top down!); to Art and Val driving us to Stoney Creek Dairy in the station wagon with the back seat that swiveled around to face traffic coming; to working at the hatchery; to presenting finance reports at the university board meetings where Val showed support and confidence to a young women (and who Val declared to everyone, "I was one of the first to hold this young lady when she was born!"). Our family will always remember these moments and have been blessed by knowing Val with a life dedicated to Christian values of love and kindness to everyone! Our condolences to all the Fleming family. You have been richly blessed with Val and her legacy will continue to live on in your hearts always. With our deepest sympathy, Marylyn, Donna, Karen, Ron and Joanne.

Dearest Val, I feel so blessed to have shared a friendship with you over the years. I am so glad that your love of Belleek made our paths cross. Myself and all of the family will cherish all the fond memories of your visits to Ireland and sharing in the celebrations of family weddings. Myself and Ivan always enjoyed the company of yourself and Art wether it was in Paris, Ireland or indeed your home. Your energy was infectious and I always loved being around you or even talking with you on the phone would brighten up my day. Your generosity especially when we visited the quilt festival was something to be admired. Im reminded daily of your love through those quilts which we hold dearly in our home. You truly were the kindest soul! Words can not say what I feel in my heart. We will miss you dearly but know you have gone on to a better place. Lots of love Olga, Ivan and family xox

I’m feel privileged to have met you through my friends Olga & Ivan Clarke. Thoroughly enjoyed your humour and vibrant personality . I recall with pleasure your visits to my homes in Ireland some years ago . You also treated myself and a couple of my elderly friends , residents of Niagara to a delicious evening meal in your beautiful home. It was special too to get to meet your family while visiting in Chicago . You’ll keep a special place in my heart Val. X

We are richly blessed to have known Art and Val. Proverbs 31 describes Val well: A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her, and lacks nothing of value.,,,Her children arise and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her....A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned."
With much love and appreciation, Ron and Mary Zavitz

Our deepest personal condolences to the Fleming Family.
Val Fleming: Strength. Unshakable faith. A powerhouse. An inspiration. No nonsense.
Loving. Kind. Giving.
We were fortunate to have enjoyed her company and benefited from her wisdom and encouragement.
We are all fortunate in Niagara to have benefited from her leadership and incredible philanthropy.
We will not see her like again.
God bless you, Val and thank you.

Our condolences to Peggy, A.D., Andy and John and your families at the loss of your mother who Linda and I knew fondly as Val. I remember Val from 72 years ago when she became my Sunday School teacher at Beamsville Church of Christ on Queen St. Val also took us skating at an outdoor rink in Beamsville. Val invited Linda and me, right after we were married, in '66 or '67 to join her in a Gilbert and Sullivan production put on at a school in Grimsby. I was also employed by your dad at Fleming Farms hatchery on Ontario street as well as sometimes on one of the farms, for four summers while I attended college in the 60's. We kept on meeting your mom and dad at various events over the years and always looked forward to Val's Christmas letter, which just stopped in the very last few years. Peggy said so much about Val's love of and contributions to the arts and we just agree that she was a great person. Val has entered my dreams the last few nights; not sure what that means, except to say that she was a significant person in our lives. Love to you all, Murray and Linda Lumley
