Obituary of Lynn Simms

Simms, Noreen Lynn - Lynn, to her family and friends, passed away peacefully in her 79th year, at Albright Manor on July 19th, 2016. Born in Dauphin, Man., to Donald and Mildred Douglas, she leaves behind husband Derek and children by her first marriage: Charles Young of Virginia and daughter Ciara of Texas, daughter April Groenenboom and husband Jim, their son Jesse and daughter-in-law Megan and their sons Riley and Connor, son Bryce and daughter-in-law Marlene and their son Kaleb, daughter Kaitlyn and son-in-law Brody Turnbull, all of Alberta; son Derek and wife Mary Ann, their daughter Emily and son-in-law Brant Weller, and daughter Lauren, all of Virginia; half-brothers Jack Coan of Georgia, Jim Coan and wife Ronda of Washington State, John Douglas and wife Frieda of BC, Bill Douglas and wife Ellie of California; cousins Dan Williams and wife Leslie, Jim Williams and wife Laurie, Bob Williams and wife Sherry and Marilyn Garvin (Williams), all of Manitoba, Jean Jordan of Alberta and Robert Gibson of Ontario; step-son Steve Paul Simms and partner Linda FitzGibbon of Ontario and step-daughter Andrea Simms of Nova Scotia. After leaving Manitoba at an early age with her father, Lynn grew up in Toronto, later ending her high school education in Grimsby. She started working as a commercial secretary, and during a visit to the United States, she met her first husband, where they raised two sons and a daughter. Lynn was then working for the Washington Post. When her marriage later broke up, she returned to Canada with her daughter, living in Lethbridge and Calgary and working in the hospitality business as a reservations manager. There she met and married Derek after which they returned to Ontario. Lynn then qualified as an Activation Coordinator for the elderly working at Seniors' nursing homes in Southern Ontario. Tallman Funeral Homes of Beamsville is handling the arrangements and cremation has taken place. Donations may be contributed to the Alzheimer Society. A memorial service will be held for friends and family at a later date.
