Jane Vanderlee

Obituary of Jane Vanderlee

Johanna (Jane) Vanderlee (nee VanderLely)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, sister, oma and great-oma. On Friday, August 25, 2023 at 5:31pm, Jane was taken into eternal glory by her Heavenly Father at the age of 81.

Jane is predeceased by her husband, Ralph (2010), and her son Dwayne (1969).  She was a wonderful mother to her children Kevin (Joanne) Vanderlee, Denise (Pete) Glasbergen and Janet (Adam) Misner.  She was a caring sister to Tina (the late Cor), the late Dirk (Corrie) and Harry (Dorothy). Loving oma of Julia (Trevor), Kylee, Morgan, Tyler, Haley, Jostlynn, Jaiden and Noah.  Loving great-oma to Evie and Milo.

Jane was born on July 17, 1942 to Arie and Dirkje VanderLely.  The family immigrated to Canada from De Lier, The Netherlands in 1951 and they eventually settled in Jordan Station.  She met the love of her life, Ralph and they got married on June 22, 1963.  They built their house just around the corner from her parents' place in Jordan Station. Mom was a devoted wife and mother.  Over the years, she loved to spend time with her family and friends camping and as the children got older, Ralph & Jane got the opportunity to go on many trips exploring God’s creation. She also volunteered for many years canvassing for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

After Ralph passed away, she got the opportunity to move to Martindale Place and loved spending time with her new friends and her sister.  Recently, she moved to her new home in Vineland where she was near her sister once again.  That was a blessing to both of them.

The family will receive friends at The First Reformed Church (1136 Vansickle Rd N., St. Catharines) on Thursday, August 31st from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 1st at First Reformed Church (1136 Vansickle Rd N.,St Catharinesat 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 9:30am at Vineland Cemetery (4025 Martin Rd, Vineland).

If desired, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff from the ICU unit at the St. Catharines Hospital for their loving care and compassion during her brief illness.
