Nettie (Simonetta) Vahrmeyer

Nettie Vahrmeyer, nee Zylstra was called home to be with her Lord and her beloved Karel Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was the well-loved wife of Karel Vahrmeyer for 59 years until his death November 2014. Beloved mother of Marina (Harry) Dykstra, Diane (Shawn) Sikkema, Karl (Wilma), Joyce (Ramon) Yance, Andrew (Eilana), Ron (Melody) and Bobby (Leah). She was Oma to 29 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Nettie was known for her strong faith in God and deep love for family.

Nettie is survived by her siblings JoAnn Van Huis, Tom (Lina) Zylstra, Agnes (Bill) Smit, Mark (Corrie) Zylstra as well as Karel’s siblings Mien Plugers, Bob (Betty), Joop VanBrakel, Riet Shouten, Thys (Tina), Bill (Tina), Ron (Audrey), and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by Marie (Bill) Haartman, Cecil Zylstra, Dick VanHuis, Andrew (Edith) Zylstra , Cor Plugers, Kor VanBrakel, Dick Schouten, grand son-in-law Joey Gasparro and three great-grandsons.

Visitation will be held at Trinity United Reformed Church, 99 Scott St in St Catharines, on Sunday November 5, 2023 from 6:00-8:30. There will be a private burial followed by a memorial service at Trinity Church November 6, 2023 11:30am.

The family gives thanks to all the staff of Shalom Manor and Gardens, particularly those on Mapleview for all their loving care over the years.

The service will be livestreamed (https://www.youtube.com/@TrinityUnitedReformedChurchURC/streams) and recorded.

In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be made to Shalom Manor and Gardens or the Parkinson’s Society.
