Floris Jacobus Wassenaar passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife, children and their spouses. Survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lynn, as well as eight children and their families: Floyd and Rose Wassenaar, Linda and Stan Lemstra, Bruce and Anita Wassenaar, Leonard and Sarah Wassenaar, Mary and Ron Vandervelde, Amanda and James Devries, Jessica and Scott Keizer, and Dan and AnnaMarie Wassenaar. Predeceased by his daughter Mary Pauline Wassenaar (1970). Proud Opa of 43 grandchildren, and Great-Opa of 44 great-grandchildren, and 6 more expecting, D.V.

Born on June 19, 1939 in Voorschoten, the Netherlands, to Florus and Maria Wassenaar, Floris was the middle child of 11 children. After growing up in the Netherlands and serving with the Dutch military, Floris (Floor) moved to Canada in June of 1960 at the age of 21. He moved to Wellandport, Ontario, where he lived with his dear cousins George and Janny Wassenaar. Shortly after, Floor met the love of his life, Lynn (Lammie) Bouwers. Floor and Lynn were married on June 18, 1965, and in October of that same year, Floor would begin working for Hank Brouwer, where he would craft his trade forming and pouring concrete. By 1969, they would settle at a home on Victoria Ave in Vineland, where they would spend the next 33 years raising their family. After 14 years at Brouwer Construction, Floor would start on his own as Floyd Wassenaar and Sons Construction, along with Floyd Jr. He would continue to work in the family business for nearly 4 more decades, right up to the age of 79, totaling nearly 53 years of pouring concrete, a feat for which he took great joy in, and one which few would be likely to surpass. Though not a man of many hobbies, Floor also loved fishing, gardening, and watching the Leafs with his kids and grandkids over the years. Underlying all of this was his steady, unshakable faith in His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. After 84 years of fighting the good fight and keeping the faith, he has finished his race, and the Lord has rewarded him with the crown of righteousness in life everlasting. He is now at peace with his Faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.
