Obituary of Peter Ross Herbert McPherson

Peter Ross Herbert McPherson, 85, of Fonthill, Ontario, Canada passed away on January 19, 2024. He was born on June 20, 1938 in St. Ann’s, Ontario, Canada, the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters.

His life’s mission was to preach and teach the gospel of Christ. He was indebted to one brother in particular, Ellsworth “Mac” McPherson for leading him to Christ. After obeying the gospel in 1962, he devoted his life to preaching and worked with churches both in Canada and the States for more than 60 years. Many published articles can be found written by Peter across the decades, and he is remembered as a diligent worker in the Kingdom—always reading, studying, or visiting with others about the gospel. He was passionate about soul-saving and viewed everyone with compassion as a soul for whom Christ died.

He is remembered for his boldness, courage and direct speech balanced with deep sentimentalism. He cherished gifts from his loved ones, time spent during visits, and companionship. He was married to Judy McPherson for more than 50 years and lovingly cared for her until her passing in 2014. He was blessed to find love again in 2015, marrying his grade school sweetheart Beverly, and spent 6 precious years with her before she passed in 2021.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burnice and Madeline McPherson, 9 of his siblings, his first wife Judy, his second wife Beverly, and his daughter Sherry McPherson. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Beamer, his son Tim McPherson and his wife Christi, his daughter Dawn-Eve Conners and her husband Ben, 9 grandchildren: Justin (Claire) Puterbaugh, Levi (Emily) Puterbaugh, Tyler Puterbaugh, Katee (Joe Walker) Puterbaugh, Jordan (Tabitha) McPherson, Hannah (Zane) Redmon, Cody (Sarah) McPherson, Ashton Parks, Braydon Parks, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by caring children from his second marriage: Melinda (Stan) Dent, Andrea (Mike) Tylee, Ed (Sandra) Beres, Adam (Lissa) Beres, and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on January 27, 2024 at 11am at Tallman Funeral Home (3277 King St.) in Vineland, Ontario, Canada with Peter’s son, Tim officiating. A graveside ceremony will follow the service. The family will receive loved ones from 9:30-11am Saturday morning before the service.
