Anita Brouwer

Obituary of Anita Brouwer

We rejoice that God has answered our prayers and welcomed into His loving arms our daughter, sister, friend, aunt, great aunt, niece, and cousin.  Anita is predeceased by her father Henk (’92) and is survived by her mother Henny, sister Ria (Rick), and their children Ashley (Mark), Andrew (Krista), Rob (Ana), Alana (Josh), brother Albert (Judy), and their children Sonya (Rik), Leanne (Dave), Stephany (Marius), Jocelyn (Anthony), Shannon (John), Brittany (Dave), Talaina (Rich), brother Henry (Marlene), and their children Rich (Stephanie), Alex (Esther), Marc (Arianna), Tony (Michelle), soul-mate sister Sue, and 39 great nieces and nephews.  She is also missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Anita was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 7 years ago, fought a courageous battle with her Lord’s help and lived as an example to us all on how to live with an incurable disease and its complications.

She loved teaching her grade 2 students for over 30 years at Cambridge Christian School, guiding and teaching her nieces and nephews (and greats) in crafts and artwork, and encouraging her family to all get along.

Anita was the joy of her widowed mother’s life as she spent most weekends and summers living with her here in Niagara.  Her favorite things were missions (Zambia), travelling (cruises, south holidays, European vacations), and doing wacky adventures (Your Niagara Home Team Adventure Tour).  Her life lived has been to the fullest, never letting her diseases get the best of her, and she will always be an inspiration to all of us as she lived as a witness to the Saviour she faithfully loved.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-9pm at Trinity United Reformed Church (99 Scott St, St. Catharines.)  Interment prior to the funeral service at 9:30am on Thursday May 2nd, 2024 at the Vineland Cemetery (4025 Martin Rd, Vineland.) All are welcome.  Memorial service at the Church at 11am.\
