Obituary of George Robert Hambleton

HAMBLETON, George Robert (Bob) - World War II veteran with the RCAF, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 95 years of age, Heritage Place, Virgil, Ontario. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Kay) of 68 years (2014); son Robbie (1954); parents: George and Eola Hambleton; brothers: Andrew (late Muriel), William (Fran), and sister Evelyn (late Leonard Hindle). Father of Elizabeth, Margaret (Jules Roonacker), Lillian (Barry Dobby) and William. Grandfather of Ian, Stephen (Emily) Dobby, Katie, Robin Roonacker and great grandson, Gabriel Dobby. Survived by siblings: Anna Hambleton, Ruth Thompson (late James), and Rev. Arthur Hambleton (Faith). He was born and raised on a fruit farm in Vineland, Ontario. After the war he married Kay and went to U of T to receive his B.A.Sc degree and later a MBA (McMaster). He retired on a hobby farm in NOTL to work on his nut trees. Was a founding member of S.O.N.G. Bob retired from Ferranti Packard where he worked as an electrical engineer in 1986. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St, on Tuesday from 7-8:30pm and again on Wednesday, beginning at 1 o’clock with the Funeral Service at 2 pm. Interment at Vineland Cemetery. Thank You to the Heritage Place staff at Pleasant Manor for their wonderful care. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Gateway Community Church or Pleasant Manor.
