Obituary of Beverly Anne Haskins

HASKINS, Beverly Anne – March 15, 1947 – June 4, 2015 With sadness, we inform you that Bev Haskins died peacefully at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on the morning of June 4, 2015. Bev was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Anne Bolton, and grew up in Hamilton until her family moved to Beamsville where she had lived for more than 50 years. She is survived by her son Paul Haskins (Pam), grandson Jason, son Michael Haskins, granddaughters Sasha and Sheila, former husband and friend David Haskins and countless friends, colleagues, students and soulmates. Bev had 35 years of experience as an elementary school teacher, arts consultant and principal. She had a degree in Drama in Education and spent many years of her career teaching, directing and creating drama presentations. In 2003 after her retirement from teaching, Bev had a founding role helping develop the annual Rotary Club of Lincoln Lamplighter Tour. She was the Artistic Director until 2012 when illness forced her to resign. A deeply spiritual person, Bev founded Lakeside Retreats, a centre that fostered personal growth and meaningful conversation. During the past few days, her sons Paul and Mike and other family members kept a vigil by her side. They were joined by friends who came to say goodbye to a person who had been a wonderful mother, friend, mentor and soulmate to so many people. God speed, Bev. You are in the arms of the angels now. Bev’s family would like to thank the staff of WLMH for the care they gave to their mother and also the Personal Support Workers who made it possible for Bev to continue living at home until just last week. A Celebration of Bev's life will be held at the home that she loved by the lake in Beamsville on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
