Obituary of Douglas Pedersen

Douglas Pedersen (April 12, 1968 – August 7, 2021)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved son, Douglas, in his 54th year, at Shalom Manor, Grimsby, Ontario.  He is survived by his loving parents Svend and Margaret, brother Kevin Carl Pedersen (Karyn Pedersen) and a loving sister Karen Ellen Pedersen (Scott Andrews) in Sydney, Australia. 

He spent 35 happy years in his Grimsby Community Living group home, where he made many friends.  Doug loved all his music, but especially Elvis, Johnny Cash and Bon Jovi.  His heroes were The Hulk, the Fonz, the Dukes of Hazzard and Michael Knight.  He also loved burgers, dark roast coffee at Tim’s, and especially having a beer with his dad and his brother.  He always looked forward to his home weekends, and to seeing his church family on Sundays.  Margaret and Svend are very grateful to the staff at both Community Living and Shalom Manor, as well as their Pastor Aaron Astley, for providing such love and care. 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 11 at 11:00am at Christ our Saviour Lutheran Church in Grimsby (448 Main Street West).  In memory of Doug, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, to Community Living (Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln) or to Christ our Saviour Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated.
