Margaretha Moes

Obituary of Margaretha Christina Moes

Moes, Gre - of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, aged 89, went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, March 17th, 2022.  She was at peace and her desire to be with her Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ and her beloved husband Gerrit.

Gre was born in Delft, The Netherlands, moving to Canada to join her future husband in 1953.  They married soon after her arrival and were happily married for 66 years.

As a Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother she was very generous, loving and kind.  We always looked forward to seeing her great smile and her beautiful dark brown eyes looking at you with excitement.

Gre loved the outdoors.  She was one of those people that would stop and smell the flowers in her garden and watch and feed the birds.  Flowers were her passion. Gre and Gerrit started a dream many years ago opening “Broadway Gardens”.  They worked side by side for many years.

She was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church for over 50 years.

Gre’s greatest achievement was being the very proud and loving Mother of 4 children, Harry (Marge), Jerry (Carol), Rob (Evelyn) and Theresa (Alfred). She would proudly boast of her 13 Grandchildren and their spouses and 28 Great- grandchildren. She was very excited to soon add another Great-grandchild to her growing family in the coming months.

Gre is survived by her loving brother Chris (Anne) in Holland and her wonderful sister Anne (John) Graves of St. Catharines, and her loving Brother and Sister-in-laws. Predeceased by her parents, Elizabertus and Jacoba Steenks, brother Wim Steenks and Sister Gerda Steenks.

Gre's family will recieve friends on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the First Reformed Church (1136 Vansickle Rd N, St. Catharines, ON L2S 2Z3) from 6:00 - 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be held in the Church on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022 at 11:00am.  Private family burial will precede the service.

In lieu of flowers, Gre would prefer donations to the charity of her choice, Red Roof Retreat.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.  Psalm 139:14
