Susan Berg

Obituary of Susan Berg

Berg, Susan - It’s with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of Susan Berg on July 15, 2022. Sue was a loving and devoted wife to John and loving mother to Ron, beloved mother in law of Josie, loving Grandmother to Jen and Chris as well as the great grandmother of Andre and Aaliyah.

She participated fully in all Grace Mennonite Church activities where she sang alto in the choir for many years, and worked as the assistant treasurer there. She was a member of Women in mission and contributed her banking knowledge by keeping books for the benefit shop.

She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed her gardens of flowers, fruit and vegetables. We were the lucky recipients of the fruit of her labour and loved the many cookies, pies, cakes and special mennonite treats that came our way.

She worked for most of her life at the Niagara Credit Union where, starting as a teller, raised herself to the position of loans officer providing financial advice to anyone who needed it. She loved her job and was well respected in it.

She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed talking with everyone she met. She loved being useful and could always be relied upon when asked for help. She was super organized and got the job done efficiently.

She will be greatly missed in the community and especially by her intimate family where she was an integral part of all that family life had to offer.

Memorial Service to take place on Friday, July 22 at 11:00am at Grace Mennonite Church, 677 Niagara St, St. Catharines with visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow before the interment at Niagara Lake Shore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MCC (Mennonite Central Committee)

As we think of her a wise and touching poem comes to mind:

"Remember me in your thoughts, and in your memories of
the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me,
I will never have gone. “
