Frank Giesbrecht

Obituary of Frank Joseph Giesbrecht

It is with great sadness that we announce that Frank Giesbrecht passed away suddenly, surrounded by the love of his family the morning of Monday, January 30, 2023, at the NHS St. Catharines site, in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Esther (Goossen) Giesbrecht. Cherished father of his sweeties Rachel (Andrew) Thiessen, Julie (Michael) Jehan, Lexi Giesbrecht (Harlan Brown), and Suzanne (Dave) Wilson. Dearly loved Grandfather of Josiah, Lauren, Bella, Evan, Nate and Ethan. Mourned and fondly remembered by his sister Beatrice Bach, mother-in-law, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours.

A special thank you to the hospital staff in both the emergency room and intensive care unit.

He will be dearly missed at local golf courses, Tim Horton’s, local benefit shops, watching family sporting events, Costco, and the enumerable scenic views within driving distance and beyond. You never knew when he would show up to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, work places, or other activities (with or without a camera).

Frank was a faithful member of the Grace United Church in NOTL and a volunteer at the MCC Benefit Shop, along with being part of numerous congregations, choirs, and community-groups throughout past decades. Always willing to lend a hand and selflessly serve in any capacity, his contributions ranged from food prep to singing, to running sound and powerpoint. His absence will be felt by many.

The family will welcome friends and family for visitation on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 5pm-8pm and the funeral on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 10:30am with luncheon to follow, both at Cornerstone Community Church, 434 Hunter Rd. in NOTL.
