Nettie Willms

Obituary of Nettie Mary Willms

On September 2, 2023, at the age of 95, Nettie Willms passed away at the Vineland United Mennonite Home.

Nettie will be mourned and celebrated by her children and their spouses: Ron (& Neta) Willms, Doug (& Janet) Willms, and Karen (& Craig) Ten Brinke, all of the Niagara area. Nettie will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Julie (& Tim) Broomer, Kevin (& Sarah) Willms, Krista (& Liang) Hua, Matthew (& Rachel) Willms and Joel (& Megan) Ten Brinke. Nettie’s great-grandchildren will also miss her; Jacob, Joshua and Jonathan (Willms), Caroline, Annabelle and Adelaide (Broomer) and Charlotte (Ten Brinke). Nettie is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Victor (in 2016), her sisters Lena and Ella and brother, John, and by her daughter-in-law, Nancy. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Susan (& Peter) Klassen, her sisters-in-law, Rita Willms and Sylvia Dyck, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Nettie was born in Jansen, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest of 5 children.  Her family later settled in Kitchener, Ontario, where she married Victor Willms in 1952 and where they raised their 3 children.

In their later years, Nettie and Victor moved to St. Catharines, to be nearer to their children. Here, they attended Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. They eventually moved into Tabor Manor.  In the fall of 2021, Nettie entered the Vineland United Mennonite Home. We rejoice that Nettie is now in the presence of God, fully restored and free.
