Obituary of Theo Hogewoning

Hogewoning, Theo (Teunis)

(January 1,1938 – September 5, 2023)

With broken hearts we had to say goodbye to our cherished husband, dad and Opa, on Tuesday September 5, 2023, in his 86th year.  Theo passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the St. Catharines General Hospital.  Theo was the loving husband of Verla with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage together.  He also leaves two loving daughters Joyce Lee (cherished Kevin) and Sharon Graham (Rob).  Also leaves behind four grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Rebecca, Justin, Kayleigh and Austin.  Theo came to Canada in 1953 with his late parents, Johannes Cornelis and Jannetje Hogewoning and siblings Bill (cherished Heather), cherished Fia Vanderlee (cherished Jerry), Gerda Vandyk (Bill), cherished Cor, Cathy Ham (cherished Ralph), Bert (cherished Ineke) and Jane Walker (Gerry).   He is loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Theo was a member of the Jordan Church of Christ where he served as Deacon for a few years.  Theo worked at Moyer Diebel for 45 years and in his spare time enjoyed gardening, woodworking, puzzling and going on camping and bus trips. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional, compassionate care Theo received from the staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital as well as the staff at Albright Manor, where Theo was a resident for 7 months.

The family will receive friends at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St.) on Thursday September 7th from 6-8pm and for one hour prior to the service which will be held in the chapel on Friday, September 8th at 11am.  Following a reception in the Tallman Fireside Room interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.

In memory of Theo, donations can be made to Albright Manor.
