Obituary of John Berwick Tiley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Tiley on September 11, 2023, at the age of 77. He leaves behind his wife Susan of 54 years and his children, Shane (Robert Jeffery) and Morgan (Marissa Jorge), his grandchildren Angelina, Alec, and Pierce Fallis and brother Peter (Verna Tiley).

John was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada when he was nine. John established himself as an expert in the field of metallurgy and spent most of his career working in Dofasco’s hot mill. After receiving his PhD at the age of 50, John proceeded to work in Dofasco’s research department where he proudly co-authored a book, consulted with steel companies all over the world, and mentored students in McMaster University’s Engineering Program.  

The family wishes to thank all those who helped us and John in the past few months. John will be cremated with the Tallman Funeral Home in Vineland.
