Obituary of Anna Funk

Anna Funk

1929-2023

I have fought a good fight.

I have finished the race.

I have kept the faith.

-2 Timothy 4:7

On Tuesday, October 3 in the early hours, our beloved Mom and Oma left this world and slipped into eternity.

Anna was born in Steinfeld Ukraine to John and Elizabeth Loewen. She was one of eight siblings. Maria (d), Elizabeth (d), John (missing in action), Willy (d), Henry (d), Margarete (d),  Peter & Betty Loewen.

Growing up for Anna was very challenging and tough. The family survived together. Years passed and the war was finally over. Anna was now living in Germany, times were happier as she met and married the love of her life, Kornelius (2019, d). A love that lasted 71 years.

They had 6 children. Annie (John), Neil, Frank (2020, d), Lena (John), Elisabeth (1959, d), Margarete (Ben). Oma has 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, with a 15th on the way.

Mom unselfishly loved and cared for Frank his whole life. She was a gentle, sweet, woman—a wonderful cook, baker, and homemaker. You never left her home hungry!

Mom thank you for always supporting us, never judging, always forgiving us, and most of all giving us your never-ending love. We love you.

Special thank you to the Extendicare staff for taking wonderful care of Anna.

A family service will be held.

In loving memory of Anna, be kind to someone.
