Obituary of Glen Allan McPherson

MCPHERSON, Glen Allan – Passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by family, on November 29, 2023, in his 72^nd year. Beloved husband of Christine, cherished father of Taryn, Nicole (Alex), Diana (Eric) and Brian (Mariah), and loving grandfather of Austin, Nolan, Ryleigh, and Addison. He also leaves behind his brothers Bill and Daryl, sister Carol, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents Allan and Isabel, brothers Ross and Art, and sister Betty.

Glen loved his family more than anything – even more than his beloved Chicago Blackhawks. He always made sure his family was taken care of, whether that meant building or fixing things around the house, giving you one of his big bear hugs, or calling you by a special nickname that he had created just for you. When you were with Glen, you felt so loved. He was also the biggest wisecracker in the world, constantly making you laugh with his famous dad jokes or Glen-isms. You couldn’t help but smile in his company.

After a long career as a maintenance supervisor, Glen spent much of his retirement where his heart was happiest – up north on the French River, with Chris by his side. They relaxed on the porch, spent hours fishing for pickerel, or joined his sister and neighbouring campers for an occasional fish fry.

We’d like to extend our thanks to the paramedics, ER, and Cardiac Care Unit of the St. Catharines Niagara Health Hospital. A very special thank you to Dr. Alisa Lagrotteria for her extraordinary care and compassion for our family during Glen’s final days.

Cremation has occurred; family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
