Obituary of Jean Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, JEAN IDRA (nee GOODLIFF) Peacefully at Albright Manor on Sunday November 27th, 2016, in her 91st year. Wife of the late Douglas Rutherford (2012). Mother of Judy Rose (Paul), Mary Rutherford, Dale Rutherford and Susan Bijakowski (Desi). She is also survived by her grandchildren Caroline, Allison (Zachary), Bryan; Jeremy (Julia), Chris (Sarah), Sharyl-Lynn (Matthew), Laura (Aaron); Jason, Nicholas, Marcus; Karli and Mitchell. As well she is survived by her great grandchildren Callum; Edwin, Elliott; Evelyn, Nolan, Stella, Alice, Micah, Clara; Ali and Jackson. Predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law Phyliss Walsh (John), Mildred Goodliff, Grace Miller (George), Inez Allen (Blair) and Doris McKean (Hugh). She will be remembered by her dear cousins Jim Rosevear and Robert Immel. Jean was born on April 29, 1926 and raised in St. Catharines. She attended Edith Cavell Public School and St. Catharines Collegiate Secondary School. She worked in the office at the Packard Electric until her marriage to Doug in 1950 and lived all her married life on a fruit farm in Beamsville. Jean was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Choir. She was also a member of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She will be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends, especially her pen pal of 70 years, Bessie Iveson of England. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Albright Manor for their dedication and care in looking after Jean. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St., Vineland on Thursday December 1st , 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 8:30 pm. Funeral Service in the Vineland Chapel on Friday December 2nd at 11 am. Reception will follow in the Tallman Fireside Room. Interment at Mount Osborne Cemetery, Beamsville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Albright Manor, McNally House or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
