Helene Dyck

Obituary of Helene Dyck

Helene Dyck passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2023 surrounded by people who loved her.

Helen was the 1st child out of 8 born to Helena Froese and Kornelius Dyck in Hochfeld, Ukraine on September 23 1928. She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings; Kornelius, Wilhelm, Agatha, Peter and Heidi; by her brothers-in-law, John Giesbrecht and Arthur Wall; her sister-in-law, Margaret and her nephew Kornelius Dyck.

She is survived by her sister Mary Kroeker (Peter), her brother John Dyck (Irene), and 13 nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

Helen spent her life serving others and worshiping her Lord. She loved to be busy in her garden, growing many different vegetables and an abundance of raspberries, which she invariably shared with others in her Mennonite tupperware. She helped to create quilts with the ladies group at church. She loved borscht and zwieback, Chinese food and Smile cookies.

Visitors will be received on Wednesday, December 27, at the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church, Linwell Rd. for visitation at 10 am and a funeral service at 11 am. Interment and refreshments will follow.

We would like to thank the staff at Heidehof Home for the Aged in St. Catharines for their compassionate, loving and patient care. Their extraordinary ministrations in Helen’s final days will never be forgotten.

Memorial donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
