Alvina Andres

 

October 10, 1937 – February 4, 2024

 

 

With great sadness and eternal hope the family of Alvina Andres announces her passing, at age 86.  Alvina leaves behind her husband Walt, married 67 years, and her 4 children (Predeceased by) Sandy (2016) & (Dave) Dick, Sheila & (Denis) Ely, Terri & (Dale) Beacham, and Brian & (Bernice) Andres, 12 grandchildren Jeff & (Julia) Dick, Greg & (Katiana) Dick, Kim & (Joel) Leonard, Elaine & (Tim) Sopher, Lisa & (Steve) Vrolijk, Janet & (Eric) Dahl, Stephanie & (Dave) Gibson, Kenneth & (Brittany) Beacham, Jennifer Beacham & (Fraser), Ryan Andres, Jake & (Siquoia) Andres, and Nicholas Andres, and 19 great grandchildren, Corson and Landen Dick, Gideon and Evelyn Dick, Harleigh, Priya and Raine Leonard, Carly and Claire Sopher, Jenna, Matt and Holly Vrolijk, Josh, Kaleigh, and Erin Dahl, Nash and Chloe Gibson, & Libby and Abby Beacham.  

 

Alvina was born to Anton and Margaret Dyck and grew up in Virgil as the eldest of ten children; Hugo & (predeceased by) Linda (2022) Dyck, Harry & (Elly) Dyck, Bob & (Susan Ross) Dyck, Evelyn & (Larry) Street, (Predeceased by) David (1997) Dyck, Junetta & (John Reay) Neudorf, Harvey & (Debbie) Dyck, Ruby & (Tommy) Brotherston, and Kathy & (Larry) Dueck. 

 

Alvina was also a beloved sister-in-law to Alf & (Doreen) Andres, Wink & (Ann) Andres, Evelyn & (Peter) Krause, (predeceased) by Victor (2017) & (Sharon) Andres, and Eileen & (Don) Schroeder. Alvina was a well-loved aunt to many nieces and nephews in the families.

 

Walt and Alvina were married on October 20, 1956. Their marriage was full of exciting adventures and long standing love.  They went on many trips; camping, visiting Haiti, and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. A highlight for Alvina was serving in Hawaii.

 

Alvina loved Jesus and her family and prayed faithfully for each one. She was an avid walker, loved to decorate and an amazing baker, which she used to serve and encourage others.

 

One of her favourite Bible passages was Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

 

Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 8th, from 6pm – 8pm at Glenridge Bible Church, 310 Scott Street in St. Catharines.  The Funeral will be on Friday February 9th at 11am at Glenridge Bible Church. A private interment will have taken place.    

 

Alvina will be remembered with the greatest of love by all who knew her.
