I have wonderful memories of my Aunt Olga. She created a beautiful home for her family and embraced all her nieces and nephews lovingly through her words and actions. I will never forget spending summer vacation picking fruit on the farm and enjoying the meals she made everyday that were delish. She would drive us all to Valentino Park to go swimming after a day of cherry picking. She stayed up late and would get up early with my Uncle Miro at 5 a.m. to start the day during fruit picking season. They were a very hard working couple and also enjoyed many social activities , dances, picnics and a large circle of family and friends. Teta Olga was an amazing Aunt and role model and ahead of her time. I will miss her smile, her beautiful voice and those days in the fifities and so forth Bell operators had very polished and beautiful voices and it's no wonder she was chosen to work there. I will also miss her creativity as her paintings and home decor were lovely and the interesting stories of her childhood raised as an only child. Dear Teta Olga you will be missed so much, Love you Always , your niece Judy

My Teta Olga will be Greatly Missed .. She was and always will be one of the beautiful Matriarchs of our family and her absence will be felt so very deeply as it ripples through the fabric of our family. Her smile, laugh, love and caring nature will always resonate with me .. I will miss her beautiful voice singing to me but cherish the memory. Yet again, life as we know it will never be the same … A Soul to be Missed … A Life To Be Celebrated .. Much Love.

Our condolences to the Peternel family.
Olga was a kind, generous and good humoured woman. Olga and Miro were good friends with our parents Emil and Anne and they enjoyed many dinners and occasions together over the years. Olga’s passing is sad on a personal level, and also sad as she is from an amazing generation of hard working people who made their way from Slovenia and other parts of Europe, many via Schumacher and northern mining communities, to Niagara to forge rich and rewarding lives full of music, good food and homemade wine. Olga will be missed by those who knew her but happily reunited with Miro in another place. We extend our wishes to the family.

I would like to offer sincere condolences to the Family. My parents spoke of your Mother frequently (and fondly) as my folks were welcomed to the farm when they came to Canada and were able to work. The Peternel Family helped my parents in many ways with their start in Canada and for that they were always grateful. May your Mom now have her rest in peace. She was a wonderfully person. Sincerely,
Stan Drobnich.

I've known lovely Olga over many decades, especially when I worked at a bank in Grimsby. Her warmth was contagious and she always took interest in my life and hobbies. I always appreciated her honesty. Olga and my mother were friends back in the day, and my mom reminisced one time that well before marriage, Olga could be spotted driving around town in a large truck. Perhaps she is driving around now up in heaven.

Dear Vicki, Tim & Sandy,
Our deepest condolences for the loss of your Mom. Olga is remebered for her kindness and sweet smile whenever we met.
My Mom has fond memories of your Mom when she came to Canada in 1952, with a warm reception. As the years went by, both families having farms, we were visiting each other. Your parents so enjoyed coming to the Slovenian Bled dances at Prudommes with my folks. May God's love surround you and keep you through this time of sorrow.
Love, Mary Kukovica & Suzie Kukovica Reese

Your mom was a treasure. She sure was a hard worker but always took the time to chat and ask how everything was with me and my family. Your mom and my mom had a special friendship with lots of memories. Sandy, remember the time their group of ladies were going for lunch and the lines of communication got mixed up …after you drove your mom to several restaurants in Grimsby, you couldn’t find the group … you drove back to my house to see if I could help … since neither of our moms had cell phones, we had to use our detective skills and finally, we came up with a restaurant you didn’t check! Yup that was the one but your mom was like an hour late! I yi yi. We had a good laugh about it.
When I think of Olga Peternel, it always puts a smile on my face. Rest In Peace sweet Olga. XO
Joanne
